"Stay far away from Chris Winklemann at State Farm if you expect an agent to actually represent you. I filed a claim with clear video evidence and dealership documentation proving the damage was caused by an accident. Instead of reviewing the evidence, I was told they “didn’t want to see the video” and that the accident “couldn’t have happened that way.” The claim was denied without the evidence ever being looked at. The dealership confirmed the damage was accident-related and refused to cover it under warranty. That still wasn’t enough for this office to take the claim seriously. When I called for help, I spoke with Angela and was met with dismissal and attitude from the start. I was told they “don’t handle claims in the office” and that unless I was calling to make a payment, there was nothing they could do. I was directed to the call center and made to feel like anything beyond paying my bill was not their responsibility. That completely defeats the purpose of having a local agent. When you’re getting nowhere with a call center, your agent is supposed to step in and advocate for you. That did not happen here—at all. I also had a vandalism claim on a rental property where the adjuster took over a month just to show up. Again, no urgency, no follow-up, no support from this office. After all of this, Chris called me, said he was “trying to be as polite as possible,” and then told me that once my claim was finished, he would help me find a new agent because he didn’t want my business anymore. This is after providing zero meaningful help when I actually needed it. He will tell you he has 25 years of experience. In my experience, that did not translate into advocacy, accountability, or basic customer service. I’ve only contacted this office twice in five years. Both times, I was treated like I didn’t matter. If you want an agent who ignores evidence, avoids involvement, and pushes you off to a call center when problems arise, this is exactly that. If you want someone who will actually stand behind you, look elsewhere."

All claim decisions—including reviewing evidence, determining cause of loss, and approving or denying coverage—are handled by State Farm’s corporate claims department. The local agency does not have the authority to review, accept, or override those decisions. Similarly, underwriting determinations are also made at the corporate level. Our office’s role is to support customers by helping initiate claims, providing contact information, and directing you to the appropriate department. We understand that can be frustrating when you’re looking for a different outcome, but the evaluation of evidence and final decision on a claim are not made within the agency. If you need assistance getting back in touch with the claims team or escalating your file for further review, we can certainly help make sure you’re connected with the appropriate department. "
